Ronald Wayne Releases New Album - Hotter Than The Sun

“Hotter Than The Sun” Album 3 from Ronald Wayne

Ronald Wayne brings you his 3rd and latest album “Hotter Than The Sun.” His mindfulness in the eleven songs is the culmination of several years work. With improving recording methodology and new friends at RW Studios in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and plenty of studio time compliments of Covid, Ronald takes you on a journey through solar system becoming hotter than the sun in doing so.

Ronald says about his new album, “The title track for this album, ‘Hotter Than The Sun’ is a companion piece to Galaxy 49.3. This fantasy journey sends you on a smooth jazz trip, leaving the earth and orbiting around the sun in a lazy elliptical orbit. I’m reminded of space journeys because here in Myrtle Beach on a crisp morning walk as the sun rises, we can witness the launch of rockets from Florida. It is far away, but in the dark of night just before dawn, you can actually see the boosters fall away with a burst of light and the trail of the rocket rising from the south out over the Atlantic Ocean.”

Ronald Adds, “Call me a dreamer, but when I wrote this piece and started the beginnings of the recording process, I was out there orbiting the sun watching the flares coming off the sun and viewing the beauty that I see. As you listen, sit back, and enjoy the journey with me, it builds to a guitar solo with several synth parts and the turn around by the drum part I am proud of. Several different pianos and my Hammond come along for the ride and see us safely back to an early morning walk on the beach. Don’t miss this one!”

Ronalds fondest wish is to present music he loves to play to you the listener in hopes of connecting with you, your emotions, and your love of musical things. As it happens, the music takes shape more like smooth jazz with some traditional jazz and a little rock creeping into the mix. Playing and producing this and future albums (already to go) is a bucket list for Ronald. Playing the clubs and gigs in the 70’s was the seed for his love of all things musical. Family life and raising children slowed the music side for many years, but new technology and newfound time to write brought all this new music to the studio. New excitement and energy gives Ronald the ability to write daily.

With two more new Albums “Your Room” and “Goldstreet” coming in six month intervals, you will be able to hear the transformation of Ronalds’ music. With at least another dozen songs in development Ronald is now embarking on developing a new, larger, and improved, studio and ranch residence in Colorado. Sometime late in 2024 new music will come from RW Studio West. This will be a new Chapter and Ronalds musical and personal journey. Ronald and wife Colleen are hoping that you will follow along as we go and enjoy all the future tunes coming your way!

New Release, "Let It Flow" Out Now!

“Let It Flow”

This smooth jazz tune conjures up my early days hanging around Disneyland in the late 60’s. Numerous small clubs catered to the young Marines stationed nearby that frequented them. Our favorite thing to do, in the day, was to find a young Marine who would buy liquor for us. In CA, the age was 21 and most of these guys were under 21, but their uniform allowed them to purchase. We would buy them a bottle and have them get us one, and the party was on.

Sitting in the front row at small clubs we saw the likes of Tower of Power, The James Cotton Blues Band, The Association, and many others popular at that time.

A good time was had by all, and we were able to see some incredible bands. One Marine said, “Oh you guys again! Let’s go and “Let It Flow.” Hence the song name.

This song reminds me of sitting front row with some young Marines, likely heading to Vietnam. Little did I know I would be called up shortly after with a lottery number of 51 it was written. At that time, I was trying to join a National Guard unit and I would have surely been sent, but circumstances changed, and I was not taken into service. Many of my friends from college did not come home.

My favorite groups always had a Hammond B3 on stage and it emblazoned my love of the instrument into my mind. In “Let It Flow,” a brass section accentuates searing guitar leads sending us back to that small stage and an age on innocence while the world fought on. Much like today, the young Marines face uncertain futures and if young Marine jazz lovers listen to “Let it Flow,” you will know we’re there with you wherever you are!

Peace!

Ronald Wayne Releases His New Single 'Easy Money'

Smooth jazz artist Ronald Wayne is excited to announce the release of his new single, "Easy Money," on August 2, 2023. The single is the latest in a year-long series of releases from Ronald Wayne, who has been steadily releasing new music since February.

You can get his new song “Easy Money” here: https://linktr.ee/ronaldwaynejazz

"Easy Money" is a laid-back, funky track that is sure to get you moving. The song features Ronald Wayne's signature smooth jazz sound, with catchy rhythms and a driving beat.

Ronald explains, “This smooth song represents my interaction with an older gentleman I met at the craps table, one trip that changed my luck. A short little old man with huge 70’s style glasses that covered his whole face, Sam knew something he had to share.”

“Sam was a watcher at the craps table. After watching me for about twenty minutes, he pulled me aside between rolls and said to me, ‘How do you play kid?’ Slightly taken aback by his interest, I laid out for him my methodology of play. He had been a ‘stick’ man at that table for over twenty years, and now retired he was simply a student of the players to pass the time.”

Ronald continues, “He told me ‘Kid you can’t win this way!’ He then proceeded to give the tips of a lifetime from a guy who really knew what he was talking about. He explained how the house had better odds and wanted you to play (like I was) a certain way. Well…I thought he sounded real so I’m going to try his way. It sounded like ‘Easy Money.’”

Like most of his instrumental smooth jazz songs, they are each inspired by a particular life event or experience from his past, which he incorporates into the sounds of music. Each song encapsulates a story, that once you read, you can envision while you listen.

New Key Old Keys EP 1 Vol 1

New Keys Old Keys EP 1 Vol 1 has 3 songs on it that are all more traditional jazz than Ronald’s normal song writing style. Featuring the Hammond, pianos, a small brass section, and some cool jazz guitar, “I wanted to show a more traditional jazz side,” explains Ronald.

Feed Me

In this song, you can hear the groan of the Hammond in the bass line and some cool guitar licks enhanced by a small brass section. The drama builds as you go along until you hear some string accompaniment and a time change. Easy listening at its best!

Latch Key

Ronald has always enjoyed playing some rhythm on his Hammond and this one lets him go! The title is no reference to Latchy Doley who excels in hammering out a rhythm on his B3, but…it did cross my mind. Love his work!

“This fun tune really gets going and has some great piano work that was a blast to play,” explains Ronald.

Enhanced by guitar, piano and assorted sax licks it will move you to “latch on” to the key and groove.

Sermonette

Jazz fans of the Hammond and Jimmy Smith are all too familiar with his fabulous rendition of “The Sermon”.

“After recording this, one of my musician friends said, ‘Hey have you been listening to Jimmy Smith lately?’ Of course, I had. Realizing that I may never reach the heights of a Jimmy Smith Hammond piece, I salute him with my contribution to smooth jazz with “Sermonette.” Says Ronald.

While this piece is a little funky and does get cookin’, it’s a great one to sip a good glass of Port, close your eyes and enjoy! Ronald also gives out a very special thanks to Evan St. Charles for some cool drum advice!

Hotter Than the Sun

A companion piece to “Galaxy 49.3,” this fantasy journey sends you on a smooth jazz journey leaving the earth and orbiting around the sun in a lazy elliptical orbit.

“I’m reminded of space journeys because here in Myrtle Beach on a crisp morning walk as the sun rises, we can witness the launch of rockets from Florida. It is far away, but in the dark of night just before dawn, you can actually see the boosters fall away with a burst of light and the trail of the rocket rising from the south out over the Atlantic Ocean,” mentions Ronald.

“Call me a dreamer, but when I wrote this piece and started the beginnings of the recording process, I was out there orbiting the sun watching the flares coming off the sun and viewing the beauty that I see,” he adds.

As you listen, sit back, and enjoy the journey, “Hotter Than the Sun” builds to a guitar solo with several synth parts and the turn around of the drum parts. In addition, several different pianos, including the Hammond, take you along for the ride and see you safely back to an early morning walk on the beach. Don’t miss this one!

Both the New Keys Old Keys EP 1 Vol 1 and “Hotter Than the Sun” were mastered by brothers Jon Weil (Head Mastering Engineer) and Brandon Weil (GM/Assistant Studio Engineer), in their state-of-the-art studio Fuzzywallz Mastering in Seattle, Washington.

Ronald Wayne Releases Play It Lillith - A Look Back at an Amazing Saxophonists

"Play It Lillith" is Ronald Wayne's most recent smooth jazz instrumental offering released early June 2023. The song is reminiscing of the time when he experienced one of the most amazing female saxophone players he'd ever heard. So much, he had to compose and write an instrumental representation of his life-long memorable experience and share it with the world.

Ronald Wayne's new release “Play It Lillith” is the fifth song and is part of his year-long nonstop instrumental smooth jazz music releases that will become the album Hotter Than The Sun this November.

You can join Ronald Wayne on this smooth jazz musical journey, subscribe to his email list, and listen to his releases here.

“’Play It Lillith’ is the ultimate smooth jazz piece. The type of song you sit back and have a sip of your favorite wine and relax to some super soulful sax, big Hammond B3, and full theater setting sounds that are sure to please your ear,” says Ronald Wayne. “This song is inspired by an old visit to the Colorado high country. One of my old stomping grounds.”

This piece reminds him of a small bar he once visited in southern Colorado out in the middle of nowhere at 7,000 feet high, where he heard a local band play with a female sax player named Lillith, who was simply phenomenal. His memory of her playing, along with her good looks, impressed and brought back a flood of great memories from that place and time.

“It isn’t often that a particular player stays in the memory banks this vividly. Man can she play that saxophone.” mentions Ronald Wayne.

Come along with Ronald Wayne to a small, smokey, barn wood walls, mountain tavern and hear Lillith. Enjoy the sounds of the memories he has in a soothing and relaxing smooth jazz instrumental piece.

Ronald Wayne's 4th Song of the Year 'Galaxy 49.3' Hits the Streams

Smooth Jazz to be sure, “Galaxy 49.3” came from our future in space. Perhaps, as we watch Elon Musk launch the rockets of the future into space, we yearn to know what is out there. As to the why of 49.3 well…49.0 sounds too much like the radio dial, and .3 sends to another file in space somewhere.

Ronald Wayne Jazz stepped into a new dimension of sight and sound - see what is in the universe on this one.

The haunting sax lead began as a traditional jazz tune, but as time passed and things sometimes go while producing music, the sax lead stayed, and the tune itself took on new form leading us along with it into a new place. Ronald looked at the starry night in the wee hours at the beach and began to wonder about what scientists have been saying about there being billions of stars out there.

Ronald states, “This piece started getting a little more electronic than Ronald’s normal musical adventure but doesn’t disappoint the traditional instruments of the Hammond B3 and saxophone, all held up by a pulsating bassline. With some strange electronic radio wave sounds accompanying the traditional jazz licks, we fly through the universes and star nebulas searching for that big jazz brass section that’s always there in a RWJ piece.”

Miscellaneous bells add some twinkle to the stars making them pulsate with the music, begging us to venture out even further than we normally dare. A searing synth lead guides our flight into the dark of space forever and always held up by the always present bass lead.

Who knows, somewhere out there may be other smooth jazz players crafting a similar piece with unfamiliar instrumentalities that we can only guess about. So have fun and ride with Ronald into the cosmos, you’ll be glad you did.

Galaxy 49.3 is the fourth song in a series of year-long smooth jazz instrumental releases on the first Friday of every month. You ca join Ronald Wayne on his musical journey by clicking here - https://linktr.ee/ronaldwaynejazz

Ronald Wayne's 3rd Single 'Old School' Comes From Magic Hour Inspiration

His new release “Old School” is the third song and is part of his year-long nonstop instrumental smooth jazz music releases that will become the album Hotter Than The Sun this November.

You can join Ronald Wayne on this smooth jazz musical journey, subscribe to his email list, and listen to previous releases here: https://linktr.ee/ronaldwaynejazz

“Old School” is a representation of traditional sounds of instrumental smooth jazz, which was inspired by morning walks in his hometown of Myrtle Beach.

Ronald explains, “Sometimes song ideas arise with the sun while walking on the beach. Old School (not my old school, but old time mellow) happened during my ‘magic hour’ at 5:30-6:00 AM on Myrtle Beach on any day that is under 80 degrees. This particular morning was nostalgic, the waters were calm, the fish were feeding, and the sun was rising in an orange sky. It appeared that mellow was the word for the day and I thought, ‘I need to do something old and mellow.’ Old School was born.

Ronald continues, “Once back in the studio, it started with a laid-back bass line. An acoustic bass line appeared mimicking the small waves rolling ashore. Drums follow with a beat, not too fast or hard. From there the piano leads paint the picture of the sun rising in the water nearly shrouded in orange clouds. Various birds soaring, diving, and some just stationary in the sky, beak pointed towards the small fish they see below. All represented by a mellow horn section.

He also added, “There is no special instrumentation, sounds, or choirs in this song, just basic jazz band players. The reality is that without the stimulation of the walk on the beach, or something like it, you can sit at the keyboard, blank with ideas. Most of the time, that little walk sets the whole picture into motion, and keeps the struggle for fresh ideas an easier road to go down. This method for songwriting never gets old (school) for me!”

Ronald Wayne continues to produce music month after month inspired by the sounds and senses of his magical hour walks along the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Ronald Wayne Releases 2nd Smooth Jazz Single – ‘Santiago’s Dance’

American musician, composer, and song writer Ronald Wayne presents his newest instrumental smooth jazz release!

His new release “Santiago’s Dance” is the second song release in a series of year-long nonstop instrumental smooth jazz music releases that will become the album Hotter Than The Sun this November.

You can join Ronald Wayne on this smooth jazz musical journey, subscribe to his email list, and listen to previous releases here: https://linktr.ee/ronaldwaynejazz

Santiago’s Dance is instrumental contemporary jazz, with a little Latin, and very danceable. This instrumental contemporary jazz piece has leads with soulful sax, trombone and guitar that moves Santiago’s feet and will move yours too. This song is an instrumental glimpse into my relationship with an employee and best friend who has since passed, leaving us with fond memories.

Ronald says, “People always ask ‘Who is Santiago?’ The Readers Digest version is the following: While in the building business in the 80’s, I met Santiago while looking for help. Twenty years old, he just arrived in California from El Salvador. He had escaped the Sandinista’s in his town who captured his older brother and assassinated him in front of him. He was so young, maybe 20, did not have any ID or SSN, he could not read, do math, or read a tape. Hiring him as a laborer, I soon figured out that he was a good hand at almost everything in construction. So, I brought him along, teaching him to read and write English, a little math, and how to read a measuring tape. He was a powerful man and could lift two 12-foot-long sheets of sheetrock over his head. At 5 feet 5 inches tall he was a dynamo. Our weekly ritual involved going to the bar on Friday nights where we did shots and listened to my music. During the day at work, we listened to his music. It was a daily routine for years. Sadly, he passed at an early age, 34 years old, of a brain hemorrhage. My number one man was gone, along with someone I considered my son and was a family member.”

Ronald continues, “He helped me build my own house, and when we had a little housewarming party, of course he came with a new bottle of tequila in hand and a big grin that wouldn’t quit. As I played his music loud on the house system and I accompanied it on the piano, he danced. I mean man….he was dancin’ for several hours, not always with a partner. That little samba moves from south of the border, that huge grin on his face, totally immersed in the moment. I will never forget that night or him. It wasn’t what I taught him, it’s what he taught me about life and family that always comes to mind. So, when this song arrived at my fingertips, it was for Santiago. It was Santiago’s Dance! I miss him!”

Besides his musical talents creating and writing contemporary smooth jazz, Ronald plays and records all the music in his Myrtle Beach home studio, RW Studios, just footsteps from the Atlantic Ocean, where much of his inspiration to write his songs begins.

Ronald Wayne Happy to Announce New Smooth Jazz Single 'Grooved'

NEW ALBUM HOTTER THAN THE SUN LATE 2023

Myrtle Beach, SC — February 3, 2023, American musician, composer, and song writer Ronald Wayne will present his newest instrumental smooth jazz release — chilled, energetic, and stays in the groove!

His new release “Grooved” will kick off a series of year-long nonstop smooth jazz music releases, including an EP mid-summer, and finishing off the year with a full album release of Hotter Than the Sun late 2023.

You can join Ronald Wayne on this smooth jazz musical journey, subscribe to his email list, and listen to previous releases here: https://linktr.ee/ronaldwaynejazz

Ronald Wayne is no newcomer to the music scene. His love for music began in the late 60s, playing gigs in Los Angeles, CA, dragging around his 400lb Hammond Organ and stirring up the music scene in places like The Beverly Hilton, The Ball, and The Earlybird. Fast forward a few decades, raising a family, and a career as an award-winning architectural home designer and builder, Ronald now dedicates his time and energy creating smooth contemporary jazz with a twist.

Ronald recalls, “Back in the day I really wanted to play the Whiskey in Hollywood. But it never happened so I played lots of other clubs, waiting for the opportunity, with my band Summerstock. One small club by Disneyland, The Ball, was new and didn’t have a stage. I wasn’t about to play that gig on the floor (I did too many of those) so I built the stage myself! That Owner had out advertising, floodlights out-front, go-go girls, a bar maid that looked just like Elvira, the whole bit, and that stage made the whole thing come together. If I remember, we made a couple hundred bucks a night and all the watery beer we could drink. Man, that’s dedication to your music.”

Besides his musical talents creating and writing contemporary smooth jazz, Ronald plays and records all the music in his Myrtle Beach home studio, RW Studios, just footsteps from the Atlantic Ocean, where much of his inspiration to write his songs begins.

“Being at the beach is cathartic for me. Morning walks as the sun comes up is my magic hour for creativity. Coming to Myrtle Beach was needed for my wife and I to take care of her 96-year-old mother. Little did I know that the beach would stir my imagination for creating music. The beauty of the sun rising from the water is unmatched here. In the off season, when the bulk of tourists are gone, I can walk totally alone for a mile in the early morning never seeing another human. Sometimes I rush back into the studio not really knowing what’s going to come out, but inevitably it does, and a song is created. They don’t all make the cut, but you can bet that the ones you do hear were probably created at the beach, not in the studio.”

The song “Grooved,” as well as all future releases, was mastered by brothers Jon Weil (Head Mastering Engineer) and Brandon Weil (GM/Assistant Studio Engineer), in their state-of-the-art studio Fuzzywallz Mastering in Seattle, Washington. Fuzzywallz Mastering specializes in high end audio mastering and have been working regularly with artists from around the globe for decades. Their effortless communication, proven workflow and double the quality control produces a custom and unique labor of love, making every end product exceed expectations.

Brandon stated, “Here at Fuzzywallz Mastering, we have had the pleasure of working with Ronald Wayne for the last couple of years. Not only is Ronald an easy-going guy who understands the value of teamwork, but he happens to be a phenomenal musician too! His unique blend of groove and dynamics are something that we don't hear a whole lot of in the smooth jazz genre and in our humble opinion, it's exactly what it needs. One gets a sense of his talent and creativity when listening because no two Ronald Wayne songs are the same, or even close to the same (in the best way) and we can tell that Ronald pours his heart and soul into his music. We're always excited to hear what he cooks up next!”

With “Grooved” being just the primer for Ronald Wayne’s musical adventure in 2023, it comes to no surprise that he will finish the year off with a full album Hotter Than the Sun for his musical grand finale in early December.
